For so many creators making art is a way to earn money and make a living.

To do that in the music industry you need to know how to track your royalties and make sure you're getting paid what you're owed.

My name is Niclas Molinder.

I'm a songwriter, a music producer, and I'm also the co-founder of Music Rights Awareness Foundation.

There are millions of songs out there and many thousands of new songs released every day, with many creators and rights holders involved in each song.

But what does it take to make sure you’re linked to the songs that you created so you can get credited and paid?

Essentially it takes knowing the different ways of registering your musical works or sound recordings and the identifiers that will help you keep track of them.

It takes understanding metadata and royalty statements.

It takes knowing who's responsible for the administration of all this.

But don't panic.

We've broken it all down in this topic and we’ll help you become a pro at managing your royalties.
